The #MeToo Movement and Pay Equity Compliance: How to Advise Your C-Suite and Safeguard Your Company

Tue. April 10, 2018
08:00 am - 10:30 am

!

Concerns about sexual misconduct in the workplace and pay inequality are top of mind for employers and the focus of advocacy groups, state legislatures, and plaintiffs’ lawyers. Join EACC member Littler in a presentation covering both of these hot topics, providing you with practical guidance and updates on recent developments.

AGENDA:
Employers, HR professionals and in-house counsel must be proactive in creating a harassment-free workplace and knowledgeable about what to do when sexual harassment claims are made, as the topic continues to take center stage. The discussion will include:

-Recommendations for managing and preventing harassment in your organization
-Best practices for handling a sexual harassment investigation
-Effective harassment prevention training strategies in this new era

Pay equity laws are expanding, and protections in New York, California, Massachusetts (in July) and other locations significantly exceed federal regulations. Class action lawsuits focused on fair pay are increasing, and negative publicity can hurt employee recruiting, retention and customer relationships. In New York, with liquidated damages of 300% and a six-year statute of limitations, pay equity suits just may be too hard for plaintiffs’ lawyers to resist. The discussion will include:

-Updates on recent pay equity developments
-Compliance guidelines and recommendations for dealing with this rapidly evolving area of the law
