Join us for a discussion about how the Eurozone is addressing challenges & opportunities of further integration. We are at a turning point in the process of European integration. As a response to the financial crisis, key pillars for crisis management and for a banking union have been established that have accelerated the process of European and Eurozone integration.

The process must now be completed and several prominent political leaders have suggested their preferred courses of action. The path that will be chosen, among the several that have been put on the table, will define where the European Union and the Eurozone will be in ten to twelve years from now.

Focusing on the Eurozone, two main features characterize alternative lines of action: the governance of the Eurozone and the completion of the banking union.

On the first point several suggestions have been made concerning the coordination of fiscal decisions - possibly through the creation of a Eurozone single Finance Minister with varying levels of responsibility - and the transformation of the ESM into a European Monetary Fund. Underlying all governance issues is the relative weight given to intergovernmental decision-making bodies versus European-based institutions.

On the second point, the creation of the third pillar of the banking union - the single deposit insurance scheme - is still debated and the creation of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) still awaits to be followed by a truly integrated banking system that operates across country lines.

A conversation with market and public policy prominent actors will provide insights as to what we should expect in the near future.

Topics of discussion will include:

* EU Banking Union and planned reform packages
*
The future of European integration
*
A status update on capital markets union
*
