Breakfast Briefing on International Tax Planning

Please join EACCNY member Houthoff Buruma for a breakfast briefing focusing on tax planning.

The international turmoil on aggressive tax planning structures is approaching its climax. By the end of this year it is envisaged that the BEPS (base erosion and profit shifting) project group of the OECD will publish its final recommendations on topics such as CFC’s, interest deductions and harmful tax practices.

But it is not only the BEPS Project that is moving forward. The European Commission is also keen on challenging tax structures which a couple of years ago seemed perfectly acceptable. One only needs to look at the debate on European state aid and tax rulings (see discussions on Google, Starbucks and FIAT) and newly introduced anti-avoidance rules in European Tax Directives. How will these new set of rules and recommendations change tax planning and corporate restructuring in the future?

Jean-Paul Dresen (Tax lawyer) and Kyoko Tollenaar (Corporate M&A lawyer) will share their views on these topics and will give recommendations on how to tackle these new challenges.
