Science Meets Creativity – The EURAXESS Science Slam North America 2014

The second EURAXESS Science Slam North America gives researchers based in North America the chance to showcase their research projects to their peers and the wider public in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. There are no limits to your creativity when it comes to presenting your projects. Tap dancing, singing, old-school presentation, scientific equipment – all is allowed.

Euraxess Science Slam

At the final slam in Toronto on October 22nd, 2014, every participant will present their research to an audience of non-experts and will be judged by them and a jury.

The winner will be awarded a free trip to Germany where he or she will attend a science communication workshop along with the winners of the other EURAXESS Science Slams. This Science Slam is a great way to meet other scientists from all over the world and present your projects in a new and completely different way.

What you need to do:

• Get creative and develop an original idea to present your research project to the world
• Make a 3-minute max. video of the presentation to be held in the LIVE finals with your camera phone (or equivalent).
• Make sure the presentation is in English.
• Upload your video via DropBox or post a link to our Facebook site. Participants can also send the link via email directly to northamerica@euraxess.net • Submissions are possible from May 15th to August 10th, 2014. No videos will be accepted once the number of posted videos exceeds 50.
• The jury will select 5 finalists from all submissions received and those 5 finalists will compete at the live finals in Toronto on 22 October 2014.

Who can take part?

People from all nationalities and all scientific disciplines (including social sciences and humanities)
researchers of all levels from PhD students onwards (PhD students, postdocs, associate professors, professors, etc.)
• participants must be active as a PhD student/researcher at a recognised university or research institute / centre from public or private sector in North America
